I love the use of blue, especially blue and white in interior design, so I thought I'd pull together some inspiration via Pinterest, titled; Blue Hues.
As I was pulling all of these beautiful and inspiring examples together, I wondered, "Where did blue in design originate?" So I did a little web-reasearch and found that blue, specifically Indigo, is one of the worldβs oldest dyes. Indigo is derived from a Greek term that means βfrom India." In ancient Egypt, the color blue was revered, and weavers inserted blue stripes in to the borders of linen mummy cloths. King Tut's funeral garb actually included a state robe that was predominately blue. The color blue symbolizes trust, loyalty, sincerity, wisdom, confidence, stability and intelligence. Blue also communicates significance, importance, and confidence without feeling too somber.
I love the use of blue in decorate accents such as pillows, throws, rugs, florals and art. These things are much easier to change out if you decide to whereas, a couch is more of a commitment.
Below are some pieces that I'm in love with AND where to get them. I hope you love them as much as I do! Don't forget to check out my PINTEREST BOARD: BLUE HUES!
