2015 Christmas - Pop Fizz Clink!
When it came time to decorate for 2015, I honestly planned on doing absolutely nothing this year. Those of you who decorate know how much work it is. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Christmas but felt I wanted to take a year off. With a little nudge from a friend I started getting in to the holiday spirit. And while I certainly didn't set out to change my Christmas decor again this year, that's exactly what happened. I will tell you, where I can, I repurpose existing decorations to save money.
This year's vision was born out of my love for emerald green and gold with a little touch of Kate Spade. I had already purchased the KS ampersand pillow to go with my black and white striped Olin rug from Crate and Barrel. When I found the gift boxes and wrap from Sugar Paper LA, I knew what I wanted to do. Luckily I had PLENTY of silver from last year but the problem? I didn't own any gold or green Christmas ornaments, whatsoever!
So I set out on my mission to find a variety of gold ornaments (the green came later). The gold, ball ornaments were easy to find but I wanted something a little different and unique. I've always had a love for Moravian stars. I found a shop on Etsy (EtcAndEtc), that had white available, so I reached out and asked if they could make me gold ones. They were so great and so quick and I couldn't be more happy with how they turned out!
For my 2014 Christmas, I created a custom, 40x40 Santa canvas, but I wanted something more Kate Spade-like to tie everything together. I had seen the phrase Pop, Fizz, Clink on a few Kate Spade stationery items, so I decided I wanted to use that as my focal point. It's fun, modern and definitely sets the tone of my festive theme.
Once I added my emerald green pillows (also from Etsy), I realized my tree, currently only decorated with silver and gold, needed some green too. But a little unsure, I bought one box of emerald green ornaments, thinking I'd take them back if I didn't like them. As you can see, they stayed on the tree and weren't returned. I love how they help tie everything together.
Lastly, I decided like last year to hang live Bay Leaf Garland, from Williams-Sonoma. It's beautiful and I LOVE the smell. I was also able to snip a few pieces off to add to my gift wrap. It adds such a nice, personal touch.
