Scarlet Fever | A Color Story

I can safely say that red is my favorite color. Based on that, you can probably guess that I adore Christmas (check out my Christmas decor here). Christmas is your free pass to go completely crazy with red. Red wrapping paper, bows, decorations, florals, lights, you get the idea. That being said, it doesn't have to be Christmas to decorate with red. Red can be introduced through statement pieces, like a red bookcase or coffee table or something as simple as decorative pillows on the couch. If you want to make a bold statement, go red on the walls. Red demands attention and rightfully so.

I did a little research on the color red and it's meaning and found that red has more personal associations than any other color. Recognized as a stimulant, red is inherently exciting and the amount of red is directly related to the level of energy perceived. Red draws attention and a keen use of red as an accent can immediately focus attention on a particular element. Red affects us physically by increasing our levels of enthusiasm. Additionally, it stimulates energy and can increase the blood pressure, respiration, heartbeat, and pulse rate. Red encourages action and confidence and provides a sense of protection from fears and anxiety. (Source: Sensational Color)

I've pulled together some of my favorite pieces that will definitely have you seeing red. Check them out below as well as my "Scarlet Fever," Pinterest board!
